Curriculum and Instruction

The Simpson County School District works to ensure that the written, taught and tested curriculum are aligned perfectly for seamless educational experience for our students.

Students in grades K-8 are assessed three times per year with i-Ready Diagnostic for Reading & Math. It is adaptive assessment that provides teacher with specific strengths and weaknesses of individual students. This assessment also provides longitudinal data to measure each student's growth.

For Algebra I, Biology 1, US History, and English II the district utilizes TE 21 for progress monitoring.

Pacing guides have been implemented for language arts, reading, math, and science courses in grades K-12, and are being developed for other courses in the district.

To ensure alignment with MS College & Career Readiness Standards, the district utilizes supplemental resources such as USATest Prep, Ready Read, Ready Math and CommonLit. Each of the resources are aligned to MAAP.
